Sick of allergies? Runny noses, itchy eyes, sneezing, etc. don’t need to be a part of your home. You just need to take the fight at the allergens that build up over time in your home.
It’s not just pollen that can have you bothered. Some of the common sources of home allergens that could be irritating you are: dust, pet dander, bacteria, mold, and even cockroaches.
- 8 out of 10 people in the U.S. are exposed to dustmites daily
- 6 out of 10 are exposed to dog or cat dander
- As many as 2,000 dust mites can live in one ounce of carpet dust!
How to Allergy-Proof Your Home
Kitchen. Keep your kitchen clean to ward off cockroaches. Store food in sealed containers and empty the trash regularly. Use vent fans to clear the air after cooking.
Bathrooms. Clean bathrooms regularly, with a 5% bleach cleaning solution to ward off mold and mildew. If you think you’re allergic to pet dander, keep the bathrooms clear of pets when you can. Don’t let mold grow by venting out the bathroom after showering.
Bedrooms. Clean bedding at least once a week. Make sure to wash curtains and dust blinds regularly!
Living Area. Get your upholstered furniture professionally cleaned at least twice a year. Vacuum regularly with a HEPA filtered vacuum.
Everywhere. Have your carpets professionally cleaned every 6 months or more if you have kids and/or pets. Keep windows and doors shut if you are allergic to pollen. Replace your air filters regularly! Consider using an air purifier.
