As a carpet cleaner with nearly 30 years of experience serving the Bellingham area, we know what it takes to get the job done right. This often requires just a little bit of help from you. Here are a few things you can do to prepare for your next carpet cleaning to better ensure a deep clean that lasts.
Take Out Any Clutter
You don’t have to get rid of everything that doesn’t spark joy in order to get your carpet clean and healthy. However, you should try to get rid of some of the clutter to get every inch clean.
Doing this also protects us by eliminating tripping hazards. Items that are frequently overlooked include shoes, toys, books, and small electronic devices.
Take Out Light Pieces of Furniture
The goal here isn’t to completely redo the look of your home or hurt yourself moving the big pieces of furniture. The actual goal is to just move some of the easier and lighter pieces to clear up more of the carpet.
Simply clearing the area of small furniture such as plant stands, floor lamps, coffee tables, and ottomans will do wonders when it comes to delivering a solid carpet cleaning.
Put Important Items in Safe Locations
Accidents happen on occasion. This is exactly why we encourage all clients to secure fragile items, heirlooms, and valuables in a safe location to prevent avoidable accidents and minimize unnecessary risks.
Mark Down, and Tell Us About Key Areas
Plenty of people have specific areas that they want us to focus on. Although we are always thorough and perform inspections, we strive to listen to you and your exact needs. So if there is a specific spot that drives you crazy, let us know! It’s also helpful to let us know if there is anything such as pet urine in the carpet (if there is a large amount of urine, let us know when we schedule your appointment so we can be prepared to clean it!).
Don’t hesitate to let us know if there are any areas you think require special attention or that you have questions about.
Make Sure Your Pets Are Safe and Secure
All of our cleaning solutions are safe for use around pets, it’s part of what makes us green-certified, but that doesn’t mean your pets should be around during a carpet cleaning. They may be super nervous around new people, or too confident and get in the way. Take a moment to put your pet in another room before our carpet cleaners arrive. If we’re cleaning the entire home, we recommend taking the pets out of the home for the duration of the cleaning. It’ll only be a matter of hours before they can have free reign to enjoy your freshly cleaned carpet!
Tell Us Where to Park
Because we sometimes use van-mounted equipment, we’re able to work much more efficiently if we can park as close to the door as possible. Even if we don’t use our van-mounted system, it’s nice to have clear paths to get our equipment in and out. Thus, we ask clients to facilitate nearby parking. If you live in an apartment building or another housing situation that might make it difficult to get our equipment to you, please let us know ahead of time.
